Firstly, a rather sad warning.
It appears that some ne'er-do-wells have taken to posting adverts for boats they don't own, paying for them with stolen banking details. I've had the payment for an advert cancelled and had to withdraw the contact details pending investigation
Nothing to do with the nice folks in the Canal world - in fact other forums have reported that if you contact them they offer to send the canalboat to your house if you pay the transport fee, which rather suggests that the usual target is car buyers!
Just apply the usual commonsense to any contacts you make, and don't hand over ANY fees until you see the boat.
Luckily, there are plenty of new genuine adverts in the Narrowboat Holidays section to make up for this
Have you watched "Barging around Britain" with John Sargeant (ITV, 8pm Fridays)? It has caused some discontent amongst Narrowboat fans (especially the title). Having watched it I realise it is a collection of whimsical encounters on his travels through Britain, which just happens to be by boat. If he had travelled by car, we would not expect an account of the car's design or the road conditions, so this series is best watched from that point of view. If you have an opinion, contact me at CanalCuttings@yahoo.co.uk
If you have some pictures and an account of a canal journey you made recently, but don't have a blog to post it, just contact us and we will display it for you

Built in 1844, the Diglis Cottage was previously one of three Lock Keepers' cottages with magnificent views of Worcester Cathedral up the river. All the buildings on Diglis Island have listed status and continue to give the look of 'times gone by'.
