There will be an informal presentation of cine film, colour slides and anecdotes about the re-opening of the Stratford-upon-Avon Canal and the arrival of nb Nelson on the Chesterfield Canal. The common link is that both took place in 1964, 50 years ago. There is no charge. Any waterway enthusiasts will be very welcome.
IT'S HELLO FROM ME.
The good news is, I am pleased to announce that CanalCuttings is in new hands and you should see even more news, property, boats, and everything Waterside related. The bad news is that due to the technical changeover there have been a few broken links, but these will be ruthlessly eliminated over the next couple of days. If your favourite item is not available, bookmark us and come back at the end of the weekend.
AND IT'S GOODBYE TO THEM
After many years building CANALCUTTINGS up from a simple blog to the Canal News, Information, Holiday and Waterside Property site of today, Jean and Graham Beven have decided to step back from publishing the site and the baton has been handed on to me, Stephen Carter. Unfortunately due to medical issues the Bevens are having to coming off their boat this year, so will no longer be involved in boating.

Britain has over 4000 miles of waterways, much of that has accessible towpath, over 2.5 thousand listed buildings and structures, around 70 scheduled monuments, nearly 5,000 bridges and almost 400 aqueducts. There are around 1,550 working locks and many that don't, not to mention over 1,000 lock cottages and other dwellings, plus 60 tunnels. So there is an awful lot to see!
